Comparator with built-in hysteresis – no external feedback needed
The TLV7011DCKR is a single voltage comparator from Texas Instruments with a push-pull output stage, meaning it can drive logic inputs directly without an external pull-up resistor. The 4.2 mV of internal hysteresis eliminates the need for positive feedback resistors around the comparator, simplifying the PCB layout and saving two components per channel. The 5 µA max quiescent current makes it a strong candidate for battery-powered sensor nodes that wake briefly to compare a threshold and then sleep.
350 ns propagation delay – fast enough for most control loops
The push-pull output eliminates the delay from an external pull-up RC time constant that open-drain comparators suffer. The 8 mV max input offset is typical for a general-purpose comparator; for precision threshold detection below 5 mV, a trimmed or auto-zero comparator would be needed.
Industrial temperature range and supply rejection
The 78 dB typical CMRR and PSRR mean the comparator's trip point shifts less than 0.1 mV per volt of common-mode or supply change – important when the reference voltage is generated by a resistor divider from a noisy rail.
SC-70-5 – tiny footprint for space-constrained boards
The 0.65 mm pin pitch is hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron, though reflow is preferred for volume. Surface-mount only – no through-hole variant exists. The small package means the thermal pad is not exposed; power dissipation is limited to about 200 mW at 25°C, which is fine for the 5 µA quiescent current but worth noting if the output drives a heavy load continuously.
