1.24 V minimum, adjustable to 6 V — the precision shunt reference for tight regulation
Its ±1.5% tolerance is tighter than the industry-standard TL431's typical ±2%, making it the choice for applications where output accuracy matters — precision power supplies, data-acquisition front ends, and sensor bias circuits.
The 15 mA output current rating sets the upper limit for the load the reference can drive directly; for higher loads, buffer with an op-amp or transistor. The 100 µA minimum cathode current is the bias current the device needs to regulate — below that, the output voltage drifts. Design the bias resistor to guarantee at least 100 µA through the cathode at all input voltages.
SOT-89-3 package — surface-mount with a thermal tab
Housed in a TO-243AA (SOT-89-3) surface-mount package, the TLV431QPK has a large collector tab on the bottom that conducts heat to the PCB copper plane. The tab is internally connected to the cathode terminal.
