Adjustable shunt reference in SOT-23-3
It operates as a shunt regulator, sinking current through the cathode to hold the reference pin at a programmed voltage between 1.24 V and 6 V, set by two external resistors. The 80 µA minimum cathode current means the shunt needs at least that much bias to regulate; below that the output voltage drifts. The 15 mA maximum output current limits direct drive to small loads — above that an external NPN or MOSFET buffer extends the range.
Temperature range and industrial fit
That puts it in scope for outdoor telecom cabinets, factory-floor sensor modules, and under-hood electronics where the ambient sees freeze-thaw cycles but not the full 125°C of automotive under-hood. The SOT-23-3 footprint is a standard three-pin layout shared with the TL431 family, so the board layout is drop-in compatible with the larger TO-92 or SOT-89 siblings — just watch the pin 1 orientation on the reel.
