Shunt reference with ±0.5% tolerance
It delivers a regulated output from 1.24 V up to 6 V, set by two external resistors. The ±0.5% tolerance is the headline spec — it holds the reference voltage tighter than the standard TL431's 1% grade, which matters when the ADC reference or comparator threshold has no post-trim.
Output drive and cathode current floor
Rated for 15 mA continuous output current and a minimum cathode current of 100 µA. The 100 µA floor means the device always draws enough bias to stay in regulation — below that the output drifts. In practice, size the bias resistor so the cathode current stays above 100 µA across the full load range, including the no-load condition.
The SOT-89-3 package (TO-243AA) has a large collector tab that conducts heat to the PCB copper — the thermal resistance depends on the pad area under the tab, not just the air flow.
