What the 8-bit quad DAC does on your board
The TLC5620CN is a four-channel, 8-bit digital-to-analog converter with voltage-buffered outputs, meaning each DAC channel can drive a load directly without an external op-amp. The SPI interface handles the digital side, and the 10 µs typical settling time keeps up with moderate-rate control loops or waveform generation.
Integral non-linearity is ±1 LSB max, differential non-linearity is ±0.9 LSB max — both within 1 LSB, so the transfer curve stays monotonic and the output code-to-voltage mapping is predictable without software calibration. The 10 µs typical settling time to ±0.5 LSB means the output reaches its final value within one SPI frame at a 10 MHz clock, leaving headroom for the microcontroller to service other peripherals.
Supply rails and reference — single 5 V, external reference
The reference is external, so the output full-scale range tracks whatever reference voltage you supply (up to VDD). This lets you set the span to match the downstream ADC or actuator input range.
