Product details

Dual 555 timer in a low-power CMOS process

The TLC556ID packs two independent 555-type timers on a single die in Texas Instruments' LinCMOS™ process, drawing just 720 µA typical supply current per timer. That supply current is roughly one-tenth what a bipolar 556 would pull at the same voltage — a meaningful difference when the timer runs continuously in a battery-powered instrument or a field sensor that wakes on a schedule. Each timer section can be configured for monostable (one-shot) or astable (oscillator) operation up to 2.1 MHz. The 2.1 MHz ceiling sets the shortest output pulse you can generate — about 475 ns minimum — which is fast enough for PWM dimming, tone generation, or pulse-width measurement in most embedded systems.

14-SOIC package and board-fit

Decoupling with a 0.1 µF ceramic near each supply pin is sufficient for most designs.

It is ROHS3 compliant, so it clears EU and global BOM restrictions without an exemption. The part is available through authorized distribution and independent channels.
