Product details

Active production — still a first-choice 555 for new builds

The TLC555ID: It is a current-production device you can spec into a new BOM or use as a drop-in replacement for an existing 555 socket without worrying about a last-time-buy window. ROHS3 compliant, so no exemption-based restrictions on the bill of materials for EU or similar regulatory markets.

What the 2.1 MHz and 360 µA ratings mean on the bench

The 2.1 MHz maximum oscillation frequency sets the upper bound for astable or monostable timing — above this the output pulse width collapses and the internal comparator thresholds lose accuracy. For a 50% duty-cycle oscillator at 2.1 MHz, the timing resistor and capacitor values land in the low-kOhm and tens-of-pF range, where parasitic PCB capacitance starts to matter. Supply current is 360 µA typical across the 3 V to 15 V range — the LinCMOS construction drops the quiescent draw by roughly two orders of magnitude compared to a bipolar 555 like the NE555, which pulls 3-15 mA. That matters for battery-powered or thermally constrained designs where the timer runs continuously.

Package and board-fit — 8-SOIC footprint

No footprint change needed if you are migrating from a bipolar 555 in the same package. Surface-mount mounting type — the part is reflow-solderable with standard lead-free profiles. No special bake-out required for the tube packaging unless the moisture sensitivity level (MSL) rating on the reel label indicates otherwise.
