What the 2.1 MHz ceiling means for your timing circuit
The TLC555CDR is a LinCMOS™ 555-type timer that oscillates up to 2.1 MHz — that is the maximum astable frequency, not a guaranteed toggle rate at any supply. At 2 V the internal comparators are slower, so the practical upper frequency drops; the 2.1 MHz figure is measured at the top of the 2 V to 15 V supply range. For a 50% duty-cycle oscillator at 5 V, expect roughly 1.5 MHz usable before the output pulse width shrinks. Supply current is 360 µA typical at 5 V — about one-tenth of what a bipolar 555 draws at the same frequency. That makes this part a fit for battery-powered or low-standby designs where the timer runs continuously, not just on a trigger event.
The supplier device package is 8-SOIC, so the land pattern matches the standard JEDEC MS-012 variation. No thermal pad — the 360 µA draw keeps self-heating negligible even at 15 V.
