Quad comparator for slow threshold and zero-crossing detection
The Texas Instruments TLC3704CN is a quad general-purpose comparator built on the LinCMOS™ process. It packs four independent comparators into a single 14-pin DIP, each capable of sinking or sourcing 20 mA to drive CMOS, push-pull, or TTL logic directly. Propagation delay sits at 4.5 µs — not for high-speed switching, but plenty for temperature thresholds, over-voltage locks, or zero-crossing detect in power supplies and motor drives. The 84 dB CMRR keeps common-mode noise from tripping false edges on long sensor runs.
Supply range and quiescent draw
Single-supply operation from 3 V to 16 V, or split supplies within the same total range. Quiescent current maxes at 100 µA per package.
Temperature grade and environment
Rated for 0°C to 70°C commercial temperature range. This limits the TLC3704CN to indoor, conditioned environments — office equipment, appliance control boards, benchtop instrumentation, or telecom racks with climate control. Not suited for engine bays, outdoor enclosures, or unheated factory floors without additional thermal management.
Package and mounting
14-lead PDIP (0.300" body width, 7.62 mm pitch) with through-hole mounting. Ships in tube.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
Active lifecycle status per the manufacturer. No last-time-buy or NRND flags. ROHS3 compliant. The TLC3704CN remains a stable line item for BOM freeze — no imminent obsolescence risk.
