Product details

Quad comparator with open-drain outputs — fits battery and industrial rails

The Texas Instruments TLC339IDR is a quad general-purpose comparator built on the LinCMOS™ process. It packs four independent comparators into a 14-SOIC package, each with an open-drain output stage. The supply range spans 3 V to 16 V, single or dual. Maximum quiescent current is 125 µA for all four channels. Input bias current is 5 pA typical at 5 V. Propagation delay maxes at 4.5 µs. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.

Open-drain output — wired-OR and level translation

Each comparator's output is open-drain, rated for 20 mA typical sink current. That lets you wire multiple outputs together for a wired-OR configuration, or pull up to a different voltage than the comparator supply. The CMOS output stage also means rail-to-rail output swing when used with a pull-up resistor.

Frequently asked questions

Does TLC339IDR have open drain output?

Yes, the TLC339IDR has open-drain outputs (CMOS, Open-Drain). Each output can sink 20 mA typical.

What is the pinout of TLC339IDR?

The TLC339IDR comes in a 14-SOIC package. The pinout follows the standard quad comparator layout: four non-inverting inputs, four inverting inputs, four open-drain outputs, VCC, and GND. Refer to the TI datasheet for the exact pin mapping.

Can TLC339IDR replace LM339?

The TLC339IDR is a pin-compatible, lower-power alternative to the classic LM339. It uses CMOS inputs (5 pA bias vs bipolar µA) and draws 125 µA max quiescent versus several mA for the LM339. Propagation delay is slower (4.5 µs vs ~1.3 µs), so check timing in your application. Supply range and open-drain output are the same.
