The TL594IPWRG4 is a fixed-frequency PWM controller from TI that covers the 1 kHz to 300 kHz switching band, giving the designer room to optimise transformer size against core loss in isolated topologies like flyback and forward converter. The 7 V to 40 V supply range covers common industrial rails, and the 97% max duty cycle allows a buck stage to regulate down to near-zero dropout.
Topology flexibility and output stage
This controller supports buck, boost, flyback, forward, full-bridge, half-bridge, and push-pull topologies — one BOM line covers multiple power-stage designs, which simplifies inventory for a multi-product line. The two transistor-driver outputs with positive configuration drive external bipolar or MOSFET switches directly; there is no synchronous rectifier built in, so the designer adds an external SR controller if higher efficiency is the target.
Temperature grade and package — shelf life and board fit
It comes in a 16-TSSOP package (4.40 mm width) on Tape & Reel, so it feeds into a standard pick-and-place line for surface-mount assembly; store the reels dry — TSSOP bodies are moisture-sensitive and need a dry-bake before reflow if the moisture-barrier bag is breached.
