What this PWM controller covers
The TL594CPWR is a fixed-frequency PWM controller from Texas Instruments that handles step-up, step-down, and step-up/step-down regulation across buck, boost, flyback, forward converter, full-bridge, half-bridge, and push-pull topologies. That breadth means one part number can serve multiple power stages on the same BOM — a single qualification covers isolated and non-isolated rails. It drives two external transistors (output configuration is positive, transistor-driver type) with a maximum duty cycle of 97%, leaving headroom for transformer reset in forward converters.
Supply range and control flexibility
The Vcc supply range is 7 V to 40 V, which covers standard 12 V and 24 V industrial buses without an external pre-regulator. Dead-time control and frequency control are available as on-chip features, letting you adjust overlap protection and switching period with external resistors. Clock sync is not provided, so multiple TL594CPWR controllers on the same board must be synchronised externally or run with beat-frequency management.
