SOT-23-3 shunt reference with ±0.5% tolerance

It is the precision sibling of the industry-standard TL431, offering a tighter ±0.5% tolerance on the internal 2.495 V reference voltage. Output voltage is set with two external resistors and can be adjusted up to 36 V. The part sinks up to 100 mA and requires a minimum cathode current of 700 µA to maintain regulation.

The 100 mA output current is enough to drive an optocoupler LED in a feedback loop, bias a small-signal transistor, or supply a low-power load. The 700 µA cathode current sets the floor for the biasing resistor from the supply rail — a higher value resistor saves quiescent power but must still deliver at least 700 µA to keep the reference in regulation. The ±0.5% tolerance means the reference voltage at 25°C stays within 2.483 V to 2.507 V — tighter than the standard ±1% or ±2% grades. For a 5 V output supply, that translates to about ±25 mV regulation error from the reference alone.
