What this shunt reference does
It sets a precise 2.495 V minimum output and can be adjusted up to 36 V using two external resistors. The ±1% tolerance holds the reference voltage across temperature and load, making it suitable for power-supply feedback loops, data-acquisition references, and monitoring circuits that need a stable voltage threshold.
The 100 mA cathode current rating defines the maximum sink current the device can handle when the output is pulled below the reference voltage — enough for driving the optocoupler LED in an isolated flyback supply or for biasing a transistor stage. The 700 µA minimum cathode current tells you the lowest current needed to keep the reference in regulation; below that the output voltage may drift.
Housed in a SOT-23-3 (TO-236-3 / SC-59) surface-mount package, the TL432AQDBZT fits a three-pin footprint shared by many shunt references. The SOT-23-3 is a common package for voltage references and small-signal transistors, so board layout reuse across designs is straightforward.
