Output voltage range and tolerance — what drives the BOM decision
The minimum fixed output is 2.495 V, and the maximum is 36 V. This span covers common rails from 3.3 V to 24 V. The ±2.2% tolerance is tighter than the standard 1% grade — a designer specifying this variant is already committing to a tighter feedback window, which matters for load regulation in isolated supplies or battery-charger setpoints. The 100 mA ceiling limits direct shunt regulation to loads under about 80 mA after derating; for higher loads, the TL431 drives an external pass transistor.
