Product details

2.495 V reference floor with ±0.5% tolerance

Its internal bandgap sets a 2.495 V minimum output, and the output can be programmed up to 36 V using two external resistors. The ±0.5% tolerance on the reference voltage is tighter than the standard TL431's ±1% or ±2% grades, which means this variant can serve as the feedback reference in a switching power supply or linear regulator without an external trim pot — one less component to calibrate on the line.

100 mA output and 700 µA cathode current

The shunt can sink up to 100 mA continuously, which sets the load-regulation ceiling for a series-pass regulator or the bias current for an optocoupler LED in an isolated supply. Minimum cathode current is 700 µA — stay above this to keep the reference in regulation; below it the output drifts. In a typical 3.3 V rail feedback loop, a 1 kΩ bias resistor from the cathode to the output node delivers about 3.3 mA, comfortably above the floor.

SC-70-6 package and industrial temperature range

Housed in a 6-pin SC-70-6 (SOT-363) package, the footprint is about 2.0 × 2.1 mm — small enough for a compact PSU or a sensor module where board area is tight. It does not extend to 125°C, so under-hood automotive or downhole applications need the TL431BQ or AEC-Q100 qualified variants.

Frequently asked questions

How does TL431BIDCKTE4 compare to the standard TL431?

The standard TL431 typically offers ±1% or ±2% reference tolerance. The TL431BIDCKTE4 tightens that to ±0.5%, which eliminates the need for external trimming in precision feedback loops. If you need the wider temperature range, look at the TL431BQ or AEC-Q100 qualified parts.
