Shunt reference for precision rails
Its internal 2.495 V reference is trimmed to ±1% tolerance, making it suitable for power supply feedback loops, voltage monitoring, and precision bias generation where tighter accuracy than the standard 2% grade is needed. The device operates as a shunt regulator, sinking current through the cathode to regulate the output voltage set by two external resistors. Output can be programmed up to 36 V, and the 100 mA cathode current capability covers most low-to-moderate power regulation tasks without an external pass transistor.
Package and thermal fit
Housed in an SC-70-6 (SOT-363) package, the TL431AIDCKTG4 occupies roughly half the board area of an SOT-23-3. The 6-pin footprint includes separate cathode, reference, and anode connections plus an NC pin for creepage clearance. For extended temperature or automotive use, the A-grade variant (TL431AIDCKTG4) is not AEC-Q100 listed; check the Q1 suffix if under-hood qualification is required.
The base product number TL431 spans multiple package and tolerance grades. The AIDCKTG4 suffix denotes the ±1% tolerance grade in a tape-and-reel SC-70-6 package.
