Precision shunt reference in a compact SOT-23-3
The TL4051A12IDBZT is a precision shunt voltage reference from Texas Instruments, delivering a fixed 1.225 V output with ±0.1% initial tolerance — tight enough to serve as the voltage anchor for an ADC reference or a comparator threshold without external trimming. Housed in a standard SOT-23-3 surface-mount package (also known as TO-236-3 or SC-59), it occupies minimal board area and shares the same footprint as many general-purpose references, simplifying layout reuse.
Noise, drift, and operating range
Output noise is specified at 20 µVrms over a 10 Hz to 10 kHz bandwidth — low enough that in a 12-bit system with a 1.225 V full-scale, the reference noise contributes less than 1 LSB of uncertainty. As a shunt reference, it sinks a cathode current of 65 µA minimum and can source up to 12 mA to the load — the low minimum bias current makes it suitable for battery-powered designs where every microamp counts.
