The TL3843BDR: ROHS3 compliant — no exemption issues for EU or California market entry.
Switching frequency and duty cycle ceiling
Switching frequency reaches up to 500 kHz — the upper end suits compact magnetics in flyback and forward converters, though the 96% maximum duty cycle is the more useful spec for boost designs. At 96% duty, the off-time is only 4% of the period, which means the transformer reset or inductor discharge time is tight; the controller can sustain a high step-up ratio without pulse-skipping, but the secondary-side catch diode must handle the short conduction interval. The supply voltage range runs from 7.6 V to 30 V (Vcc/Vdd), covering standard 12 V and 24 V industrial rails with margin for ripple. Below 7.6 V the undervoltage lockout (UVLO) keeps the output off — nominal is not absolute max, but the 30 V ceiling is the abs-max at the Vcc pin per the datasheet's absolute-maximum ratings table.
Multi-topology controller — one BOM position
This part is intended for indoor, bench, or controlled-environment equipment. For automotive or extended industrial ambient, look at the -40°C to 125°C rated siblings in the TL384x family.
14-SOIC package — board integration
No exposed thermal pad — the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance relies on the copper area of the SOIC footprint. Standard rework profile with hot-air; no special bake-out required for moisture sensitivity level (MSL) typical of SOIC packages. The cut tape option is convenient for bench builds without committing to full reel quantities.
