JFET inputs — the 30 pA bias current matters
The JFET input stage holds input bias current at 30 pA typical, three to four orders of magnitude lower than a general-purpose bipolar op-amp. That makes the TL084ACDE4 the natural choice for photodiode transimpedance stages, pH probe buffers, and any high-impedance sensor interface where bias current would otherwise create a DC offset across the source resistance. For precision DC applications below 1 mV offset, a bipolar or auto-zero amplifier would be a better fit.
Quad-channel density in a 14-SOIC footprint
Four amplifiers in a single 14-SOIC package (0.154-inch body width, 3.90 mm) at 1.4 mA supply current per amplifier — total quiescent current around 5.6 mA for the whole device. That keeps the board area and thermal load low for multi-stage signal chains like quad active filters or multi-channel data acquisition front-ends.
Supply span runs from 10 V to 30 V, so the part works on ±5 V to ±15 V split rails or a single 12 V to 24 V supply.
