J-FET input quad op-amp for industrial signal chains

The Texas Instruments TL074IDR is a quad-channel J-FET input operational amplifier in a 14-SOIC package. Each of the four amplifiers draws 1.4 mA supply current, keeping the total quiescent draw at 5.6 mA for the whole device.

The 13V/µs slew rate defines the large-signal risetime. For a 10 V p-p output step, the edge slews in about 770 ns — fast enough for audio line drivers and 100 kHz power-stage error amplifiers without significant slew-induced distortion. The 3 MHz gain-bandwidth product sets the small-signal closed-loop bandwidth at a given gain. At a gain of 10, the -3 dB point lands near 300 kHz, which is adequate for sensor conditioning loops and active filter stages in the tens-of-kilohertz range.

This package survives hot-air rework well. The leads are on the outside, so you can get a fine-tip iron or a hot-air nozzle on all four sides without cooking the plastic body. No exposed pad underneath, so no risk of lifting a thermal pad during removal.
