It is not rated for the engine bay, an outdoor telecom cabinet, or a factory floor that sees freezing starts. If your BOM calls for -40°C operation, you need an industrial-grade JFET op-amp like the TLV9362 or a similar extended-temp part.

There is no official TI successor order code for the TL072CP listed in the lifecycle record — the broader TL072 family continues in surface-mount packages (SOIC-8, TSSOP-8), but the DIP-8 version is end-of-life. Sourcing now runs through independent distribution and the surplus market.
Package and assembly fit
Through-hole 8-DIP (0.300" row spacing, 7.62 mm body width). No MSL rating to worry about — DIP packages are moisture-insensitive and survive reflow or hand-solder without a bake step. The tube shipping medium is standard for DIP parts; pick-and-place requires a tube feeder or manual insertion.
