JFET input stage — low bias, fast edge
The TL072BCD is a dual JFET-input operational amplifier from Texas Instruments. Its JFET front end delivers a typical input bias current of 65 pA, which keeps offset drift low when the source impedance is high — think photodiode transimpedance or piezo sensor conditioning.
Supply range and current budget
Runs on a single or split supply from 10 V to 30 V total span. Each of the two amplifiers draws 1.4 mA quiescent — low enough for multi-channel boards where the op-amp rail budget adds up fast. The 2 mV typical input offset is adequate for general-purpose signal chains; if sub-millivolt precision is needed, the TL072BCD is not the right pick.
For dual-sourcing resilience, the TL072BCD is pin-compatible with the broader TL072 family in the 8-SOIC footprint.
