J-FET input stage — what the 30 pA bias buys you
The TL061BCP is a single J-FET input op amp from Texas Instruments in an 8-pin DIP package. The 1 MHz gain-bandwidth product and 3.5 V/µs slew rate are modest — think audio line-level conditioning or slow control loops, not video switching.
Runs from a single supply as low as 7 V up to 36 V, so it works off common ±15 V or single 12 V/24 V rails. Not rated for automotive or outdoor enclosures.
Through-hole DIP — rework-friendly
The 8-DIP (0.300" body) with 0.100" pin spacing is about as rework-friendly as it gets. The through-hole leads soak heat well; a standard soldering iron at 350°C with a 1.5 mm chisel tip makes clean joints. No moisture sensitivity level to worry about out of the tube.
Low quiescent current — 200 µA
At 200 µA supply current, this op amp sips power. In a multi-channel design, four of these draw under 1 mA total — useful for battery-backed signal chains or portable instruments where every milliamp counts.
