20 ns PAL-type PLD in a TTL logic family
The TIBPAL20R8-20MJT is a 20 ns propagation-delay programmable array logic device from Texas Instruments, built on a TTL-compatible bipolar process. It belongs to the PAL-type OT PLD family — one-time programmable, meaning the logic configuration is fused at programming and cannot be erased or reconfigured. The 20 ns speed grade sets the maximum system clock rate and the combinatorial-to-registered path delay budget. In a 5 V TTL backplane or glue-logic application, this part replaces multiple discrete 74-series logic gates with a single registered output macrocell array.
Package and handling — Bulk format
Supplied in Bulk packaging — typically tubes or anti-static trays, not tape-and-reel. This matters for the pick-and-place setup: the tube format feeds into standard tube handlers, but if your line is set up for tape-and-reel, you will need a tube feeder or manual placement. The Bulk package also means the parts are not baked or dry-packed to a specific moisture-sensitivity level (MSL) by default — store them in a dry cabinet or bake before reflow if the board assembly uses a lead-free profile above 217 °C.
Active lifecycle, RoHS non-compliant — sourcing note
This part is RoHS non-compliant. The lead-bearing solder finish on the leads is compatible with tin-lead (SnPb) assembly processes. If your board assembly is RoHS-exempt (military, aerospace, medical, or industrial with a SnPb waiver), this part is a direct fit. For RoHS-mandated lines, a lead-free alternative would require a different order code or a functional replacement.
