Package and footprint — 20-VQFN with wettable flank
Housed in a 20-VFQFN exposed-pad package (3.5x4.5 mm body per the supplier device package designation 20-VQFN), the TCAN4550RGYRQ1 uses a wettable flank terminal finish. This means the side of each pad is plated, so an AOI system can verify solder-joint wetting after reflow — a requirement in automotive assembly lines where hidden QFN joints are a common inspection blind spot. The datasheet's recommended footprint and stencil aperture pattern should be followed; the pad also serves as a ground return for the CAN bus transceiver section inside the controller.
There is no LTB window to manage, and no official successor has been issued — this is the current production variant for the TCAN4550 base number.
