If the rest of the CAN bus runs at 5 V nominal, the TCAN337D will still communicate, but the recessive/dominant voltage thresholds are referenced to its own 3.3 V rail. For mixed-voltage buses, check that the bus common-mode range of the 5 V nodes overlaps correctly; the datasheet covers this in the electrical characteristics table.
The TCAN337D and TCAN332 are both single-channel 3.3 V CAN transceivers in the same 8-SOIC footprint, but the TCAN337D supports a 1 Mbps data rate while the TCAN332 is limited to 1 Mbps as well — they are functionally similar. Pin compatibility should be verified against the respective datasheets for any subtle differences in timing or fail-safe behavior.
