Supply voltage — why the 3.3V rail matters
If your design uses a 3.3V MCU or DSP, the TCAN330GDR eliminates the extra regulator or voltage translation that a 5V CAN part would need. The bus pins still meet the CAN standard differential voltage levels, so it talks to any other CAN 2.0 node regardless of their supply voltage. The 3.3V operation also reduces overall system power — relevant for bus-powered or battery-backed nodes.
Package and footprint — standard SOIC-8
Housed in an 8-SOIC package with 0.154" body width and 3.90 mm width, the TCAN330GDR uses the same footprint as countless other CAN transceivers. This simplifies PCB layout and opens up second-source options — many pin-compatible CAN parts share this same 8-SOIC footprint.
