CAN FD transceiver for 8 Mbps automotive networks
The TCAN1463DYYRQ1 is a half-duplex CAN FD transceiver from Texas Instruments, supporting data rates up to 8 Mbps on the CAN bus.
Supply voltage and bus interface flexibility
This dual-range capability means the device can tolerate a 24 V truck electrical system or a load-dump transient without an external clamp, as long as the 40 V absolute maximum is respected. Receiver hysteresis is specified at 135 mV, providing noise immunity on the bus lines. In a high-EMI environment like an engine bay, that hysteresis margin helps prevent bit errors from coupled transients on the CANH/CANL pair.
Housed in the 14-pin SOT-23 Thin variant (SOT-23-14), the package footprint is compact at roughly 3.0 mm × 4.2 mm. The 0.65 mm pin pitch is routable on a standard 2-layer automotive PCB, though a ground plane under the device improves thermal dissipation when the junction temperature approaches the 150°C limit. Supplied in tape and reel (cut tape option available), the reels should be stored in a dry environment per JEDEC moisture sensitivity level — the SOT-23-14 package is typically MSL-1 or MSL-2, but verify the reel label for bake requirements before reflow.
For volume BOM commitments, the part is sourced through authorized and independent distribution channels.
