Active production, automotive CAN FD transceiver
The Texas Instruments TCAN1145DRQ1 is an automotive-grade CAN transceiver supporting CAN FD at data rates up to 5 Mbps. The wide supply range of 4.5 V to 28 V covers 12 V and 24 V automotive battery systems with margin for load-dump transients, making it suitable for engine control units, body controllers, and ADAS sensor interfaces.
The 5 Mbps data rate confirms CAN FD (flexible data-rate) support, allowing payloads larger than 8 bytes and faster arbitration-to-data phase transitions. This is a step up from classic CAN 2.0 parts limited to 1 Mbps. The receiver hysteresis of 135 mV provides noise immunity on the bus, important in automotive environments with alternator whine and motor drive coupling. For designs still using CAN 2.0 controllers, the TCAN1145DRQ1 drops back to 1 Mbps operation transparently.
AEC-Q100 and 150°C junction — where it fits
The combination of AEC-Q100 qualification and a 150°C junction temperature rating places this transceiver in the under-hood and engine-bay tier. It is not limited to cabin or chassis domains; the 150°C TJ covers exhaust-side sensors, turbocharger actuators, and transmission control modules where ambient temperatures exceed 125°C.
