What the 2 Mbps data rate and 120 mV hysteresis mean on the bus
The TCAN1051HD is a Texas Instruments CAN transceiver supporting data rates up to 2 Mbps, making it suitable for CAN FD (Flexible Data Rate) networks that need higher throughput than classical CAN. The 120 mV receiver hysteresis provides a clean differential signal threshold in electrically noisy environments—motor drives, automotive powertrain buses, or factory-floor networks—where common-mode noise can otherwise corrupt the bus state. The half-duplex architecture is standard for CAN: one differential pair handles both transmit and receive, with the driver enable pin controlling bus access.
If your design runs a 3.3V system, note that the supply rail is 5V—a local 5V regulator or a 3.3V-tolerant CAN transceiver would be needed instead.
