5 Mbps CAN FD transceiver for the 5V automotive bus
The single 1/1 driver/receiver pair interfaces a CAN protocol controller to the differential bus, with a 120 mV receiver hysteresis for noise rejection on the twisted pair.
The supply voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V ties this transceiver to a standard 5V CAN bus rail. If your CAN controller runs at 3.3V, you will need level translation on the TXD/RXD pins — the TCAN1051GVDRQ1 does not include a VIO pin for mixed-voltage logic. The 5V bus side is robust for the differential signalling, but the logic interface expects 5V levels unless you add external translation.
The base product number TCAN1051 covers a family of pin-compatible variants with different wake and silent modes, so if a future design needs a different feature set, the footprint stays the same.
