CAN FD transceiver for 5 V automotive and industrial buses
It is part of the TCAN1051 family and carries AEC-Q100 automotive qualification, making it suitable for both under-hood and chassis-domain CAN bus nodes. The device integrates a single differential driver and receiver pair, with 120 mV of receiver hysteresis for robust noise rejection on the bus lines.
The 5 Mbps data rate supports CAN FD arbitration and data phases at the higher bit rates defined in ISO 11898-2:2016. In practice, this means the transceiver can handle the faster data payload segments of a CAN FD frame without introducing bit-timing errors, as long as the bus topology and stub lengths stay within the CAN FD physical-layer guidelines. The 120 mV receiver hysteresis helps maintain signal integrity on longer bus runs or in electrically noisy environments like motor drives or alternator proximity.
Active lifecycle and AEC-Q100 traceability
The AEC-Q100 qualification (Automotive Electronics Council grade) provides the documented reliability and parametric traceability required for production automotive programs, including PPAP submissions. For non-automotive designs, the same qualification guarantees a wider temperature margin and tighter process control than a commercial-grade transceiver.
