The TCAN1044VDDFR is a Texas Instruments CAN FD transceiver that runs from a 1.7V to 5.5V supply, which means it interfaces directly with 1.8V microcontrollers without a level shifter. That saves two resistors and a FET on the BOM for low-voltage CAN nodes. Full-duplex operation and an 8 Mbps data rate support CAN FD frames at the higher bitrate phase.
The SOT-23-8 (TSOT-23-8) package is small enough for space-constrained PCBs but still hand-reworkable with hot air — just watch the orientation mark; the TSOT-23-8 has a subtle pin-1 bevel that can be hard to spot under a microscope.
Receiver hysteresis and bus noise margin
100 mV of receiver hysteresis helps reject noise on the CAN bus differential pair. In a noisy environment (motor drive, high-side switching), that hysteresis buys you a cleaner dominant/recessive decision without external filtering.
