Automotive CAN FD transceiver in a wettable-flank package
It supports data rates up to 2 Mbps, covering both classical CAN and CAN FD (flexible data rate) frames.
The 2 Mbps data rate is the CAN FD data-phase speed, not the arbitration-phase rate. In CAN FD, the arbitration phase runs at the classical CAN rate (typically 500 kbps or 1 Mbps), and the data phase switches to the faster 2 Mbps after the arbitration field. This transceiver handles both phases transparently.
This part is a current-production device suitable for design-in on new programs. The base product number is TCAN1043, which covers a family of CAN FD transceivers with varying features (wake, standby, silent modes); the HDM suffix indicates the specific variant with the highest feature set including remote wake and bus failure diagnostics.
Package and mounting — wettable flank for AOI
The wettable flank terminals are a key feature for automotive assembly: they allow the solder fillet to climb the side of the terminal, making the joint visible to AOI cameras. Standard reflow profiles for lead-free solder apply.
