CAN bus transceiver for automotive networks
The Texas Instruments TCAN1043ATDMTRQ1 is an automotive-grade CAN transceiver in a 14-VSON (3x4.5 mm) package with wettable flank terminations. It handles the physical-layer interface between a CAN protocol controller and the differential bus, operating at data rates up to 8 Mbps in half-duplex mode.
Supply architecture and bus voltage tolerance
The wide bus-side tolerance means the part can survive load-dump transients and battery-voltage excursions common in 12 V and 24 V vehicle electrical systems without external clamping. The 140 mV of receiver hysteresis provides noise margin on the differential bus lines, reducing false bit detection in electrically noisy environments.
Package, footprint, and inspection
The wettable flank allows automated optical inspection (AOI) of the solder joints after reflow, which is a practical advantage for high-volume automotive assembly lines where hidden solder defects under a standard QFN would escape visual check.
