Automotive CAN bus transceiver for harsh environments
The 2 Mbps data rate supports both classical CAN 2.0 at 1 Mbps and CAN FD frames at full speed, so it fits existing designs and future higher-throughput bus upgrades without a board spin. The supply range of 4.5V to 5.5V is sized for a nominal 5V rail, but the 4.5V floor keeps the transceiver alive through cold-crank dips on a 12V or 24V vehicle battery—a common failure point for parts with tighter undervoltage lockout. The 120 mV receiver hysteresis adds noise margin on the differential bus, reducing false bit reception in electrically noisy environments like motor drives or ignition systems.
This makes the TCAN1042HVDRQ1 a candidate for engine bay, transmission control, and brake-system modules where the ambient can exceed 105°C.
