5 Mbps bus speed — what it buys the network
At 5 Mbps this transceiver supports CAN FD (flexible data rate) frames, which pack more payload per arbitration cycle than classical CAN. For a powertrain or ADAS node that streams sensor data, the higher throughput reduces bus load and leaves margin for additional ECUs.
Package note: wettable flank matters on the line
The 8-VSON (3x3) package with wettable flank is a DFN-style body with exposed pad for thermal conduction. The wettable flank means the side of the terminal is plated, so automated optical inspection (AOI) can confirm the solder fillet — no X-ray needed to verify the joint. That is a production-line time saver and a field-repair confidence boost: if you have to swap this on a board, the pad geometry is visible under a microscope.
It is a current-design-in part, not a phase-out or NRND line. For production BOMs that need AEC-Q100 grade CAN FD silicon, this is a straightforward fit with no LTB clock ticking.
