CAN FD transceiver for automotive networks
The 8-VSON package with wettable flanks supports automated optical inspection (AOI) of solder joints, a requirement for high-reliability automotive assembly.
The 5 Mbps data rate supports CAN FD (flexible data-rate) frames, allowing payloads larger than the classical 8 bytes per message. In a mixed-speed network, the transceiver handles arbitration at the standard CAN rate and switches to the higher rate during the data phase. This matters for ECU firmware updates over CAN and for high-bandwidth sensor data streams where classical CAN would bottleneck.

Wettable flank package for AOI
The 8-VSON (3x3 mm) package includes wettable flanks — exposed metal on the side of the package that wets with solder during reflow. This lets an AOI system verify the solder joint from the side, not just the top. For automotive production lines that require 100% solder-joint inspection, this package avoids the need for X-ray or manual check.
