Amplifier output and load matching
The TAS5805MPWP is a Class D audio amplifier from Texas Instruments that delivers 45 W into a 4 Ω load in mono mode, or 23 W per channel into 8 Ω in stereo mode. That 45 W figure is the maximum output power per channel at the listed load — nominal is not absolute max, so the supply rail and speaker impedance need to stay within the 4.5 V to 26.4 V supply range and the 4 Ω or 8 Ω load spec to avoid thermal shutdown. Start from the reference design for output filter and inductor selection.
Supply voltage and thermal limits
Supply range is 4.5 V to 26.4 V. Operating temperature is -25°C to 85°C ambient.
Configuration flexibility
The output type is configurable as 1-channel mono or 2-channel stereo, which means a single BOM line can serve both a subwoofer amp (mono, 4 Ω) and a full-range stereo amp (8 Ω per channel) by changing external components. The device is surface-mount on a 28-PowerTSSOP footprint with 0.173" body width and 4.40 mm height — fits standard audio amplifier layouts.
