What the SNJ5522J is — and who needs it
The SNJ5522J is a bipolar analog circuit in a hermetic 16-pin ceramic DIP (CDIP16) package. This is the kind of part that shows up in a high-reliability BOM — military avionics, satellite power control, or a downhole sensor interface where plastic packages are not an option. The CDIP16 gives you a sealed cavity and a coefficient of thermal expansion matched to the silicon die, which is what you need when the board sees rapid thermal cycling or vacuum outgassing constraints.
For the procurement side, that means no last-time-buy deadline to manage and no forced redesign window.
If your pick-and-place line expects reels, you will need to hand-place or use a tube feeder. For a rework bench or a prototype run, Bulk is actually easier: no reel to load, no leader to trim. Just verify your ESD handling because the tubes are not shielded.
