The Texas Instruments SN75LVCP601RTJR is an active SATA redriver — a two-channel buffer that takes a CML input and re-drives it as a VML output at up to 6 Gbps per lane.

What the 6 Gbps data rate means for SATA Gen3

6 Gbps per channel matches the SATA 3.0 (Gen3) physical layer rate. The 323 ps typical propagation delay is well within the timing budget for a backplane or cable run — the redriver's job is to restore the signal eye before the receiver's CDR loses lock, not to add latency that breaks the link. On-chip input equalization compensates for the channel's high-frequency loss, while output de-emphasis reduces the pre-cursor ISI that builds up across a second trace segment. Together they let the part extend a SATA link beyond the ~1 m reach of a bare driver.

Package, power, and temperature for a storage backplane

Housed in a 20-pin WFQFN with an exposed pad (4x4 mm), the package is hand-solderable with a hot-air station — the 0.5 mm pitch and central thermal pad are manageable for rework. The exposed paddle must be soldered to a ground plane for the 65 mA supply current's thermal dissipation. Runs on a 3.0 V to 3.6 V rail, which is the standard 3.3 V supply in a storage controller or backplane.
