Device identity and eSATA signal conditioning
The Texas Instruments SN75LVCP422DBR is a 2-channel buffer and redriver designed for eSATA applications, capable of retiming and conditioning signals at data rates up to 3 Gbps per channel. It incorporates input equalization and output pre-emphasis, which compensate for signal degradation over long PCB traces or cable runs — the equalizer opens the eye at the receiver side, while the pre-emphasis boosts the high-frequency edge content before the signal leaves the driver.
Parametric budget: supply, timing, and power
Propagation delay is 300 ps per channel — this is low enough that the added latency does not close the timing margin on a 3 Gbps serial link; the total round-trip delay through both channels stays under 1 ns.
Package, mounting, and board integration
Housed in a 20-SSOP (0.209", 5.30 mm width) package, supplier device package 20-SSOP, surface-mount — the 1.27 mm pitch is routable on a standard 2-layer PCB without micro-vias, and the body width fits common 0.300-inch-wide SOIC footprints. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) and Cut Tape (CT) options — the TR variant suits automated pick-and-place assembly at volume; CT is preferred for prototype or low-quantity builds.
