300 mA sink per channel — the so-what for the BOM
The open-collector output means the load supply can be higher than the logic supply (up to the breakdown voltage of the output transistor, typically 30 V or more), so you can switch a 24 V industrial lamp from a 5 V logic rail. If your design runs on 3.3 V logic, this part will not work directly — you would need a level translator or a different driver family.
