Supply rail and temperature — fit for the BOM
The 5V nominal supply (4.75V min, 5.25V max) ties this part to legacy 5V logic rails or a regulated 5V bus. If your design runs on 3.3V I/O, this transceiver needs a level translator or a separate 5V supply. For those applications, look at the industrial-temperature variants in the SN75176 family.
For new designs, it remains a valid choice, and for existing BOMs, there is no imminent obsolescence risk to trigger a requalification cycle.
