The supply range is 4.75V to 5.25V — a tight 5V nominal rail. If your board runs a 3.3V-only backplane, this part needs a local 5V regulator; it will not work from a 3.3V rail. That covers a climate-controlled factory floor or an office comms closet, but not an outdoor telecom cabinet that sees -20°C starts or an engine bay. The 50 mV of hysteresis on the receiver input is a real help on a long bus run with common-mode noise; it keeps the receiver from chattering on a floating or lightly-driven line.
