Dual 4-input NAND gate in the 74S family
It integrates two independent NAND gates, each with four inputs, and operates from a 4.75V to 5.25V supply rail. The 74S series uses Schottky-clamped transistors to achieve higher switching speeds than standard 74LS, with a typical propagation delay of 6 ns at 5V and a 150 pF load. Output drive capability is 40 mA sinking and 60 mA sourcing, which is notably higher than many other 74-series gates — useful for driving multiple fan-out loads or long PCB traces without a buffer.
