The Texas Instruments SN74LVT240ADW is an octal buffer and line driver with inverting logic and 3-state outputs, part of the 74LVT low-voltage BiCMOS family.
Output drive and bus loading
With a 32 mA high-level and 64 mA low-level output current capability, this buffer can drive a 50 pF load at well over 50 MHz in a 3.3 V system. The 3-state outputs allow multiple devices to share a common bus without contention — useful in multiplexed address/data buses or shared interrupt lines. The inverting logic means a low on the input produces a high on the output, which can simplify polarity matching in active-low control schemes.
Package and board integration
The two elements each contain four bits — a total of eight inverting buffers with independent 3-state enable controls. The wide-body SOIC gives good thermal dissipation for the drive currents, though at 32/64 mA per output the total package dissipation stays within limits for most ambient conditions.
