Six inverters in a 14-SOIC footprint
The SN74LVCU04ADT packs six independent inverter gates into a 14-SOIC (0.154", 3.90mm Width) body — each gate flips a single input. The 74LVCU family is the unbuffered variant of the 74LVC04, meaning the propagation delay is shorter and the output transition is more linear, which matters when the inverter sits inside an oscillator or a crystal-driver circuit where the unbuffered stage preserves the loop gain.
Supply range and timing at the board level
The 3.8 ns max propagation delay at 3.3 V, 50 pF load sets the timing budget for a 50 MHz clock path; the unbuffered output rises and falls faster than the buffered variant, so the trace length between the inverter and the load should be kept under 25 mm to avoid reflection at that edge rate. Output drive is 24 mA source and 24 mA sink at the rated supply — enough to drive a 50 pF load at 3.3 V through a 25-ohm source termination resistor without ringing. The 10 µA max quiescent current means the part adds negligible draw in a battery-powered system that keeps the inverters idle between operations.
