Single-bit D-type flip-flop for mixed-voltage glue logic
It stores one bit of data on the rising clock edge and presents the stored value at the non-inverted output. With a 160 MHz maximum clock frequency and 4.5 ns propagation delay at 5 V driving 50 pF, this part handles moderate-speed register, pipeline, and debounce functions in industrial control, motor-drive feedback, and automotive body electronics. The 32 mA output drive is enough to directly switch a small relay coil or LED through a series resistor, saving a buffer stage.
160 MHz toggle rate and 4.5 ns propagation delay
The 160 MHz clock frequency means this flip-flop can retime data at SPI clock rates up to that speed, or serve as a simple divide-by-two stage for a 160 MHz oscillator. The 4.5 ns propagation delay at 5 V with 50 pF load sets the timing budget for a single register stage — if you are daisy-chaining several of these, the cumulative delay eats into setup time on the next clock edge. At lower supply voltages the delay increases; at 1.8 V expect roughly double the 5 V figure, so budget accordingly when mixing supply rails.
The 74LVC family is a mature, widely second-sourced logic series, but this specific order code is the standard TI offering in the SC-70-5 footprint.
